GOALS
1. To practice what I have learned throughout my career, in both teaching and translation.
2. To improve teaching techniques, and why not learn new ones.
3. To transmit to other people who are willing to learn a new language, the knowledge I have.
4. To share with colleagues who have more experience than I and learn from them.
5. Even though I have been teaching since February I think I still have a lot of things to learn, among them I can mention classroom management which is one of the most difficult parts when teaching, so I want to learn new strategies to manage a misbehave group.
I think this career is very useful I can work as a teacher, translator or in a call center. I also think this is a career that works as a complement of other careers for example business administration.
To be a teacher is a challenge, we really have to love our job to succeed. Some of the qualities a teacher must have are:
Patient: this is definitely one of the most important characteristics of a teacher because we always have to understand our students, be patient when they don’t get what we are explaining, or when the group is misbehaving.
Creative: teachers have to have different activities up their sleeve to catch students’ attention; we cannot follow only the book and its activities. To find games to explain grammar or to apply grammar would help the learners to become interested in the topic.
Updated: we have to know new idioms, phrases, words. We have to study to reinforced areas we don’t manage very well, remember students are always asking for all the words the come to their minds.
From this “Practica Profesional” I want to learn and improve those aspects I’m weak, such as some grammar aspects. This time is not going to be a simple presentation in front of my classmates it’s going to be a real experience with my own group so I have to be careful with the language, tone, and words I’m going to use. Dealing with people it’s not easy some of them are going to complain because they don’t like the method, others because they don’t want to work in pairs. At this point is when we prove our classroom management skills, or why not when we learn how to apply them.

Paola , teaching will always be a challenge.
